SCALE photonics Featured in Nikkei

In June 2026, SCALE photonics Co., Ltd. was featured in a Nikkei article titled “Soto-zaki (‘blooming outside’) Sony” Relays Technologies: Startups Built on “Seeds” Once Set Aside by Sony, which highlights entrepreneurs developing technologies originating from Sony Group outside the company.

The article introduces SCALE photonics as one of the startups working to bring Sony-originated technologies to market, featuring comments from our CEO Masanao Kamata and our chip-scale high-peak-power laser technology.

SCALE photonics was established in January 2026 to advance the social implementation of cutting-edge laser technology developed through research and development within Sony Group. We will continue to create new value in sensing, industrial applications, and next-generation photonics through our ultra-compact, high-peak-power laser light source technology.
